Torepe-Ormsby and Aslan crowned Big Ten Champions

Wisconsin sits in fourth place in team scoring
COLUMBUS, Ohio – The 21st-ranked Wisconsin men's swimming and diving team completed day two of the Big Ten Championships on Thursday night crowning two new Big Ten Champions, Yigit Aslan and Taiko Torepe-Ormsby.
Aslan garnered his first individual Big Ten title on Thursday in the 500 free, hitting the wall in just 4:11.20. Aslan's time is now the second-fastest mark in the event in program history. Freshman Luukas Vainio was the second-fastest for Wisconsin, placing ninth with a time of 4:18.24.
Continuing the momentum for Wisconsin was Torepe-Ormsby, who also earned his first Big Ten title in the 50 free. Torepe-Ormsby crushed his own school record, hitting the wall in an NCAA "A" cut time of 18.76. He also makes it the first time a Badger has won the event in the Big Ten in 43 years.
Andrew Benson tied for fourth in the 50 free in 19.37, followed by Ben Wiegand who placed eighth in the event in 19.56.
