ATHENS, Ga. – Phoebe Bacon and the Wisconsin women's swimming team continue to rewrite history. On the strength of a second-career National Championship from Bacon, the Badgers raced to a 15th-place finish at the NCAA Championship, their second-straight year placing 15th.
The Wisconsin women have earned a top-20 finish in each of the last six NCAA Championships and 13 of the last 14 dating back to 2009.
Bacon joins Beata Nelson as just the second two-time NCAA champ in UW history after finishing her collegiate swimming career with a win in the 200 back Saturday. Bacon also claimed the 200 back title in 2021 and finished runner-up in both 2022 and 2023. Her 2024 time of 1:48.23 is now second all-time in Badger annals, and it marks the 10th first-team All-American accolade of her career.
In the 1650 free, the Badgers had four swimmers place in the top-16, including Paige McKenna who placed ninth with a time of 15:56.16, Maddie Waggoner who placed 14th in 16:00.85, Alivia Lindorfer placed 15th in 16:01.25, and Elle Braun who came in 16:02.47.
The 400 free relay consisting of Bacon, Abby Carlson, Abby Wanezek, and Hailey Tierney came in 16th place with a time of 3:12.98 to finish the meet off on Saturday night.

DAY 3: Bacon named All-American in 200 IM
ATHENS, Ga. – The 14th-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming team continued the third day of competition at the NCAA Championships on Friday, with
Phoebe Bacon picking up another All-American accolade.
Bacon added her second All-American honor of the meet in the 100 back, placing fourth with a time of 50.55. This swim now gives her nine top-eight finishes at the NCAA Championships in her career.
Callahan Dunn made her meet debut in the 400 individual medley, placing 14th with a time of 4:07.26. Her All-American honorable mention swim set a new school record in both the prelims and the finals.

DAY 1: Bacon named All-American in 200 IM
ATHENS, Ga. – The 14th-ranked Wisconsin women's swimming team began the NCAA Championships strong at the Gabrielsen Natatorium in Athens, Georgia.
Wisconsin started the meet with a 14th place finish in the 200-medley relay.

The 800 free relay consisting of
Phoebe Bacon,
Lily Gardner,
Abby Carlson and
Blair Stoneburg set a new school record with a time of 6:55.71. The Badgers placed 10th and were named All-American honorable mention to end Wednesday's night one of competition.
On Thursday night, Carlson represented the Badgers in the 500 free, placing 15th with a time of 4:38.82, and was also named All-American honorable mention.
In the 200 individual medley, Bacon, the reigning Big Ten Champion, placed fifth with a personal best time of 1:53.16. Her time improves her already second-fastest time in program history by two 10ths of a second to name her another All-American accolade.
The 200 free relay consisting of Bacon, Carlson, Tierney, and Wanezek ended the night off with a 15th place finish in 1:27.87 to name them All-American honorable mention and earn the third-fastest time in Wisconsin history.
