Orono, Minnesota defender joins seven-time national champions
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's hockey program announced on Wednesday that prep defender Grace Bickett will join the Badgers this coming fall.
A native of Orono, Minnesota, Bickett comes to Wisconsin following an impressive career with Orono High School. Bickett captained the Spartans in her junior and senior years, leading the team to second and third-place finishes at the Minnesota Class A Girls Hockey Tournament.
"It has been a lifelong dream of mine to play hockey for Wisconsin," Bickett said. It means the world to me to be given this opportunity and to be able to play with the best of the best. I am so excited to be a Badger and can't wait to see what the future holds."
The two-time all-state selection and a member of the Academic All-State team, Bickett joined the varsity team as an eighth grader and posted 150 career points on 27 goals and 123 assists throughout her 115 games as a Spartan.
Bickett made her mark while at Orono, setting a new program record for career assists with 123, shattering the previous record of 110.
The blueliner also caught the attention of USA Hockey, earning her invites to the USA Hockey player development camps three times.
In addition, Bickett was a member of the varsity soccer team and she earned Orono High School's Athena Award, which is given to an outstanding female student-athlete.
Bickett is the fifth member of the Badgers' incoming freshman class, joining the likes of forwards Hannah Halverson (Edina, Minnesota), Finley McCarthy (Whitefish, Montana), Maggie Scannell (Wynantskill, New York) and defender Emma Venusio (Toronto, Ontario).
