MADISON, Wis. – Five current and one former Wisconsin women's hockey players were named to the Team USA roster for the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship, the organization announced on Sunday.
Britta Curl, Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey and Kirsten Simms will join UW alum Hilary Knight on the U.S. Women's National Team as they head out east to Utica, New York, for the 2024 IIHF Women's World Championship from April 3-14.
Edwards and Simms will make their IIHF Women's World Championship debut, but the pair gained national team experience as they participated in the 2023-24 Rivalry Series.
Curl, Eden, Harvey and Knight return to the IIHF Women's World Championship after earning gold with the United States in 2023. This will mark Eden and Harvey's fourth time joining Team USA for the tournament and Curl's third.
In 2023, Harvey earned the directorate award as the tournament's best defender after posting 14 points in seven games on four goals and 10 assists, including the game-tying goal in the championship game. The Badger defender led all tournament skaters in points and plus/minus with a rating of +14.
Returning for her 14th IIHF Women's World Championship, Knight looks to continue her impressive career with the U.S. Women's National Team. Throughout the years, the forward has brought home nine gold and four silver medals, while also becoming the first player in Women's Worlds history to reach 100 career points after posting a hat trick in the thrilling win over Canada in the 2023 gold medal game.
In addition, former Badger Sis Paulsen was selected to the USA Hockey staff for the tournament. Paulsen rejoins Team USA after serving on the staff of both the 2023 and 2022 IIHF Women's World Champions and the 2022 Winter Olympic Games.
Team USA will open up the preliminary round with a game against Switzerland on April 3, before facing Czechia on April 5. The team will then continue with a tilt against Finland on April 6, and will wrap up the round with a showdown with rival Canada on April 8. Puck drop will begin at 6 p.m. CT for each of Team USA's preliminary round games and fans can watch the games live on the NHL Network.
