Badgers battle Cardinals on Lake Mendota
MADISON, Wis.- Wisconsin women's lightweight rowing faced off against No. 4 Stanford on Saturday in a rare dual for the program on Lake Mendota.
The No. 6 Badgers and No. 4 Cardinal went head-to-head in three races, with Stanford coming out on top in the lightweight varsity eight, lightweight varsity four and lightweight varsity double. Stanford boats the top-ranked four in the nation.
Due to weather conditions, including north and west winds, the race was pushed to the northwest portion of Lake Mendota and raced in cold and cross tail winds of 10-12 miles per hour.Â
Wisconsin has improved their racing times since they have last faced Stanford. In the varsity eight they are 7 seconds faster than last years time and the varsity four is a second faster.

Head Coach Hodge Habibovic
"This was a challenging week for us. The challenging racing conditions did not make it any easier. We've got a lot of work to do in the next few weeks before we go to Sprints. I'm very appreciative of Stanford for making the trip out and am looking forward to seeing them again at IRAs."
Up next: Wisconsin will have a couple weeks to prepare for their next race, Eastern Sprints May 5.
