Huss to represent Badgers in West Lafayette
MADISON, Wis. – For the third year in a row, Cameron Huss of Wisconsin men's golf is headed to the NCAA Regional tournament. The senior is headed to the West Lafayette Regional, where he will play 54 holes from Monday, May 13, to Wednesday, May 15, at Purdue's Kampen-Cosler Course.Â
Here are five things to know before the Badgers tee off:
1. Last Time Out: The Badgers last competed as a team at the 2024 Big Ten Championships, where they finished tied for seventh at 64-over par. The Badgers shot a 904 (290-303-311) at Scioto Country Club's challenging course. Jacob Beckman led the Badgers at the Big Ten Championships, finishing in 15th place at 12-over par after shooting a 222 (70-74-78). Northwestern won the 14-team field as the Wildcats finished 23-over par with an 863 (280-294-289). They had four golfers in the top-10, including the individual winner, Daniel Svard who finished one-over par.Â
2. The Course: The West Lafayette Regional will be hosted by Purdue University on their Kampen-Cosler Course. A Pete Dye design, the course will play at 7,465 yards as a par-72. The course features a variety of vast bunkers and native grasslands, and is ranked as one of the top college courses in the country. The course last hosted the NCAA Regionals in 2017, as well as the 2008 NCAA Men's National Championship.Â
3. The Tournament: The 2024 NCAA Regional will be played from Monday, May 13, and Wednesday, May 15, with 18 holes set to be played on each day. Tee times will begin at 7 a.m. CT on Monday off of holes 1 and 10.Â
4. The Field: The tournament field will include a total of 13 teams and 10 individuals, including Cameron Huss who will be representing the Badgers as an individual. Teams competing in the regional include Vanderbilt, Arizona, Florida, New Mexico, Purdue, San Diego State, Mississippi State, Indiana, College of Charleston, Stetson, Colorado State, Southern Illinois [Missouri Valley Conference and Tennessee Tech. Individuals in addition to Huss include Caleb VanArragon (Valparaiso), Hunter Thomson (Michigan), Barend Botha (Toledo), Valentin Peugnet (Illinois State), Owen Stamper (Middle Tennessee), Alex McCulla (Illinois State), Ty Gingerich (Cincinnati), Luke Fuller (Western Kentucky) and Ben Ortwein (Rider). The top five teams and the low individual not on those teams will advance to the 2024 National Championship at Omni La Costa Resort & Spa.Â
