UW medals in four out of five boats
PENNSAUKEN, N.J. - The Wisconsin lightweight rowing team had a successful second day at the Jefferson Dad Vail Regatta to conclude the weekend.
With promising results in the semifinals, boats were looking good with great times. Not only did all five of the entries make it to the grand finals, four out of the five earned medals on Sunday. Badgers took home a win in the freshman/novice eight, finishing nearly 20 seconds ahead of the second place boat. Both varsity four and second varsity took second place, while the lightweight four placed third. The varsity double took fifth place.

"We had a really strong showing this weekend with all five of our entries making the grand finals. Four of our five crews earned medals which was capped off by a huge win in our freshmen eight. This was an exciting test for our depth since we traveled with a younger squad without our seniors since they stayed in Madison for graduation so it was good to see the future is in good hands. Now we have a few weeks to work before the IRA national championships."
UP NEXT: Badgers finish off the season at the IRA national championship from May 31 through June 2 in Princeton, New Jersey.
