Big Book Bus Palooza - a Celebration For All Readers!

Wisconsin Athletics and Madison Reading Project Celebrate Literacy and Inclusivity

MADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Athletics wrapped up its spring semester literacy campaign with a special celebration at the Kohl Center. The Madison Reading Project hosted its Book Bus Palooza, marking a milestone in inclusivity with the unveiling of their new ADA-accessible mobile reading bus.

The celebration featured tours of Madison Reading Project's buses, alongside various kid-friendly activities, games, and participation from other Madison mobile partners. These partners included Madison School and Community Recreation, Madison Children's Museum, the Goodman Foundation Dream Bus, the Madison Museum of Contemporary Art, and other local community members.

This event marked the culmination of Wisconsin Athletics and the Madison Reading Project's mission to close the literacy gap in Dane County. Wisconsin Athletics contributed over $4,000 to community support initiatives and dedicated more than 480 hours to reading to youths across Dane County and Milwaukee. Overall, the "Book it With Bucky!" reading campaign engaged over 17,000 participants.

This collaboration between Wisconsin Athletics and the Madison Reading Project has been a significant step toward fostering literacy and inclusivity within the community.

Chartered in 2014 as a 501(c)(3) nonprofit, Madison Reading Project has given more than 500,000 books to children living in nine (9) South Central Wisconsin counties. Much of the giving is targeted to under-resourced families and children needing literacy support.
