Badgers add veteran pitcher from Virginia Tech
MADISON, Wis. – Molly Jacobson, a veteran right-handed pitcher, has signed with the Wisconsin softball program, head coach Yvette Healy announced Monday.
Jacobson, a graduate transfer, most recently played at Virginia Tech. The six-foot, right-handed pitcher will have one season of eligibility remaining.
"We're thrilled to add experience and maturity to our pitching staff with graduate transfer Molly Jacobson," said Badger head coach Yvette Healy. "As a Virginia Tech pitcher, Molly has faced some of the best hitters in the country with post-season experience pitching against Florida State in the ACC Tournament and Georgia in the NCAA Super Regional. She also graduated high school from Waukee, Iowa, where one of Wisconsin's all-time greatest pitchers, Kaitlyn Menz helped lead Carrie Embree's Waukee Warriors to a State title, before leading the Badgers to three consecutive NCAA Regional Championship appearances."
At Virginia Tech, Jacobson has appeared in 28 games for the No. 14/15 Hokies. This season, Jacobson made four appearances and did not give up an earned run. She totaled eight innings of work. In 2023, Jacobson appeared in the circle 21 times and finished with a 7-2 record with two complete games. In 51.1 innings of work, Jacobson stuck out 31 batters, allowing just 26 earned runs with 24 total, and registered a 3.55 ERA on the season.
Born in the Midwest, Jacobson is no stranger to Wisconsin. The Iowa native is a Waukee High School graduate, and a five-year letter winter having earned First Team All-Conference, First Team All-District and was named to the IHSAA First Team All-State team.
