SEATTLE – For the first time in school history, the Wisconsin women's rowing team competed at the Windermere Cup, one of the world's premier rowing events, on the Montlake Cut.

The Badgers were led by the varsity four and the second varsity eight who each came in second place in their respective races. 

The varsity four opened the racing for UW, coming in second place behind host-school Washington. Their time of 7:40.189 was 22 seconds faster than third place Western Washington and over a minute faster than fourth place Seattle University.

In the Women's Cascade Cup, the second varsity eight came in second place behind Washington's Gold crew and ahead of Washington's Purple crew and Seattle University in third and fourth place, respectively. 

To cap off an exciting day of racing, Wisconsin's varsity eight competed in the regatta's marquee race, the women's Windermere Cup. UW's crew came in third place with Washington claiming gold and and the Italian National Team earning silver.

On Friday night, the women's varsity eight also participated in a special 'Twilight Sprints' event, a 600-meter race from the traditional Montlake Cut finish line to the eastern end of the Cut. UW's time of 1:48.7 was good for third place behind Washington and the Italian National Team.
