Senior captain earns second-straight Academic All-America honor from CSC
MADISON, Wis. – For the second-straight year, Wisconsin women's hockey captain Britta Curl has been recognized for her work on the ice and in the classroom as the forward was named a first-team Academic All-American by the College Sports Communicators on Tuesday.Â
A native of Bismarck, North Dakota, Curl held a 3.92 grade point average during her time with the Cardinal and White while leading UW to three NCAA championships.
Curl is only the second UW women's hockey player to be named to the first-team in consecutive seasons, joining UW legend Sara Bauer, who was named to the squad in 2006 and 2007.Â
During her tenure with the Badgers, Curl etched her name all over the record books as her 180 career points rank ninth in school history while her 86 goals rank seventh. She broke Meghan Duggan's school record for consecutive games with a goal thanks to a 10-game goal streak during the 2023-24 campaign.Â
Curl capped off her time in Madison with a career year in 2023-24, collecting 62 points on 22 goals and a career-high 40 assists. She led all Badger skaters with a +55 plus/minus rating and also posted 55 blocks as a forward.Â
The winger was also respected by her teammates as she was named captain twice and was voted the recipient of the Badger Award in 2024, which is presented to the player who inspires others through her commitment to hard work and unselfish play.Â
In addition, Vivian Jungels was named an Academic All-District selection by CSC. The sophomore blueliner enjoyed 20 points on 15 assists and five goals and posted the game-winning goal in UW's win over Colgate in the NCAA Women's Frozen Four semifinal.Â
To be eligible, student-athletes must be at least a sophomore academically and athletically with at least a 3.50 cumulative grade point average (on a 4.0 scale). Â
