Stover earns her first shutout of 2024
PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team concluded its three-game road stretch with a 2-0 win at Providence today, Aug. 25.
How it happened
First Half
Not even a minute into the game, Maia Richters had a scoring opportunity. The goal was quickly reversed due to an offsides call.
Richters fed the ball to Ashely Martinez in the 10th minute. Martinez capitalized on a right-sided goal to give the Badgers the 1-0 advantage.
Tuscany Khachab and Anya Gulbrandsen checked in late in the half to tally their first minutes as Badgers.
The Badgers held possession for most of the first 45 minutes, claiming the upper hand in shots (8-3) and shots-on-goal (4-1).
Second Half
Wisconsin's defense was a key factor in the second, facing two shots in the first 10 minutes of the half.
Captain Dara Andringa scored her first of the season off a pass from Khachab in minute 77'.
Drew Stover earned her first shutout of the season making four saves on the afternoon.
In addition to the win, the Badgers outplayed the Friars in shots (13-8), shots-on-goal (8-4) and corners (5-4).

Wisconsin will host its home opener against Loyola-Chicago on Aug. 29 at 5 p.m. (CT).
