Badgers drop first home match since season opener
MADISON, Wis. — Wisconsin women's soccer (7-3-3, 3-2-2 B1G) fell to No. 6 Ohio State (10-1-1, 6-1-0 B1G), 3-2, on Thursday night at McClimon Soccer Complex.
How it Happened:
Wisconsin opened the scoring in the 17th minute when freshman Jane Rogers found the back of the net for her third goal of the season, giving the Badgers an early 1-0 advantage.
Ohio State responded in the 25th minute as Nette-Nina Hiltunen scored off assists from Ava Bramblett and Andrea Lu to even the match at 1-1 heading into halftime.
The Buckeyes took their first lead in the 49th minute when Amanda Schlueter scored her 13th goal of the season, assisted by Ava Greco.
Ohio State extended its advantage to 3-1 in the 73rd minute as Greco scored off an assist from Bramblett.
Wisconsin cut the deficit to one in the 86th minute when Taylor Gordon scored her third goal of the season, assisted by Kiara Gilmore. The Badgers were unable to find the equalizer before the final whistle, falling 3-2.
Up Next: Wisconsin will travel to face Michigan on Sunday, Oct 11. Kick off is set for 12.
