
Badgers ranked No. 10 in USCHO preseason poll

UW appears in USCHO preseason poll for the first time since 2021-22 season
MADISON, Wis. -- To start off its 2024-25 season, the Wisconsin men's hockey team finds itself ranked at No. 10 in the USCHO.com preseason poll. The team received 489 votes.
The Badgers make their first appearance in the preseason polls since starting off the 2021-22 season, when they were ranked at No. 12.
Last year, UW finished the season ranked No. 11 after going 26-12-2, placing second in the Big Ten and earning an NCAA Tournament bid.
Defending NCAA champion Denver received 42 first-place votes to rank No. 1 while Boston College and Boston University rank second and third, respectively. No. 4 Michigan State and No. 5 North Dakota round out the top five.
UW will face six teams ranked in the poll this season, including No. 1 Denver, No. 4 Michigan State, No. 6 Minnesota, No. 7 Michigan, No. 15 Omaha (exhibition) and No. 19 Notre Dame. Additionally, Wisconsin will compete against Penn State, Ohio State, Connecticut and LIU, who all received votes.
The Badgers are one of five Big Ten teams ranked in the top 20.
Wisconsin opens the 2024-25 season with an exhibition game at Omaha on Saturday, Oct. 5. The Badgers begin regular season play with a home series against the Lindenwood Lions on Friday and Saturday, Oct. 11-12.
