Wisconsin Football reading to kidsMADISON, Wis. – Wisconsin Athletics and the Madison Metropolitan School District (MMSD) are excited to announce a new collaboration aimed at inspiring a love of reading. The initiative, aligned with MMSD's goal of closing the literacy gap, will involve student-athletes from various sports serving as reading role models for among second grade students throughout the district.

As part of the partnership, Wisconsin Athletics is teaming up with the 2nd & 7 Foundation, a non-profit organization founded by Luke Fickell and his former Ohio State teammates Ryan Miller and Mike Vrabel. The 2nd & 7 Foundation is dedicated to promoting literacy by providing free books and positive role models for children. Through this initiative, each participating second grader will receive a free book, further supporting MMSD's efforts to boost literacy and encourage reading proficiency at an early age.

The role model reading program also promotes character development, as student-athletes share life lessons and read alongside second graders. This unique approach supports MMSD's broader mission to ensure every child is on track for success, not only in academics but in personal growth as well. It also reinforces Wisconsin Athletics' commitment to excellence and community engagement.

With a focus on making a meaningful impact beyond the classroom, this partnership embodies the values of both MMSD's School Improvement Plans and Wisconsin Athletics' shared joy in supporting the local community.
