CHICAGO – The Wisconsin men's track and field team won six events Saturday at the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational at the Gately Track and Field Complex.

The throwers stood out in their season debut, highlighted by seniors Jason Swarens and Joseph White's victories.

In the weight throw, White demonstrated his dominance, launching an impressive 70-9 3/4 (21.58m) to win in his Badger debut. That mark ranks fifth in program history and is the No. 9 toss in the NCAA this year.  Teammate Cole Hooper took second with a toss of 60-11 1/4 (18.57m), completing a stellar performance by the throwers in their opening meet.

Swarens claimed the top spot in the shot put with a mark of 62 feet, 2 ¼ inches, (18.95m), narrowly edging out White, who also recorded a throw of 62-2 1/4(18.95m) but finished second on attempts. The Badger duo rank eighth in the country in the event while White moved into fifth on the school's top-10 list. Andrew Stone secured third place with a strong throw of 61-9 1/2 (18.83m), while Kyle Clabough rounded out the top five with a put of 56-8 3/4 (17.29m).

On the hurdles and sprints side, Gio Wearing starred as he won the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.00 seconds.

Elliot Harris earned two top-two finishes in the sprints, taking second in the 60 meters with a PR of 6.89 and winning the 300 meters with a PR and time of 33.59.

It was a big day for the Badgers in pole vault as the team swept the podium, finishing 1-2-3. Sophomore Hunter Cook won the event with a height of 15' 7" (4.75m). Augustus Counard-Ciechanowski finished second with the same height with Nathan Nelson following in third.

Finally, the Badger 4x400 relay team of Patrick Hilby, JJ Williams, Elliot Harris and Jalen Williams outlasted DePaul and won the event in 3 minutes and 21.29 seconds.
