Kelley, Bunke continue to build on strong seasons
IOWA CITY, Iowa - The Wisconsin women's track and field program recorded four first-place finishes en route to a successful showing in Iowa City, Iowa, at the Hawkeye Invite.Â
The Badgers were led by their distance program throughout Saturday's slate, highlighted by numerous upperclassmen, who continued to hit their stride.Â
Emma Kelley competed in her second meet as a member of UW, turning in the fourth-fastest 600 meters in Wisconsin history—breaking her previous PR by nearly a second with a time of 1 minute, 29.7 seconds.Â
Kelley was followed by Mya Bunke in the 800 meters, as the Slinger native stole the show with a record-breaking time in the Hawkeye Invite's history—running a 2:10.67.Â
To round out the distance crew, Fiona McLoughlin snagged a second-place finish in the mile before running away with gold in the 3000 meters. McLoughlin completed the 3K in 9:40.89, winning her second 3000 meters race in as many weeks.Â
Kiley Robbins was the final Badger to earn a victory in Iowa on Saturday, as she once again took the title in the 60 meters. Robbins won the event last weekend in Chicago, and followed it up with a 7.33-second sprint.Â
Wisconsin earned multiple PRs to round out the day of competition, continuing to build on back-to-back weeks of action round the Midwest.Â
Up Next: The Badgers are back at it next weekend with a pair of meets on deck. Part of the team will travel to New York to compete in the Dr. Sander Invitational, while others will take on the Fighting Illini Invite in Illinois. Both events are set to take place on both Friday and Saturday.Â
