
Three Badgers up for 2025 Hobey Baker fan vote

MADISON, Wis. – Three Badgers – Quinn Finley, Gavin Morrissey and Ryland Mosley – find themselves among those nominated for the 2025 Hobey Baker Memorial Award fan vote.
The Hobey Baker is awarded annually to college hockey's most outstanding player.
Sophomore forward Finley is currently tied for first in the NCAA with 18 goals, and he's tied for second in the country and the Big Ten with 33 points. Finley is also tied for fourth in the nation with seven power-play tallies. With 33 points, the sophomore has already more than doubled his freshman total of 16, and he leads the Badgers' roster in both goals and points. Finley has also accumulated multiple honors this year, including Kwik Trip Holiday Face-Off Most Outstanding Forward and earning two Big Ten Stars of the Week.
Freshman forward Morrissey leads all freshmen in the nation with 27 points. He is tied for second on the Badgers in points and has sole possession of the first spot with 18 assists. His 18 assists also rank second among rookies in the country and are tied for ninth among all skaters. Morrissey's plus-16 rating is first among Badger skaters and tied for 11th in the league.
Both Finley and Morrissey own eight-game point streaks. Finley boasts seven goals and 13 points, while Morrissey owns five goals and 11 points during the string. Finley has points in 15 of the last 16 games.
Graduate student forward Mosley is second on the Badgers with 11 goals and 16 assists, and he is tied with Morrissey for the number two spot with 27 points. The forward is tied for 13th in the nation and sixth in the conference in points, and he's tied for eighth in the Big Ten in assists. Mosley has been a clutch goal scorer for Wisconsin, scoring game-tying goals in the final minute of the third period twice this season to help the Badgers force overtime against Alaska Anchorage on Nov. 30 and No. 1 Michigan State on Jan. 4 at Wrigley Field.
Finley, Morrissey and Mosley make up Wisconsin's top line, and the trio owns 38 goals and 87 points on the season. The Badgers as a team have 75 goals and 204 points on the year. The line has also scored points and goals in 21 of 24 games, most recently combining for 12 points in the series against LIU on Friday and Saturday, Jan. 17-18.

The first phase of fan balloting runs now through March 9. Fans can cast their vote once per day during the initial phase.
Phase two of fan balloting will feature the Top Ten Hobey Baker finalists beginning March 19 and closing March 30. The fans' vote accounts for a percentage of the total ballot in each phase in selecting this year's award recipient.
The 2025 Hobey Baker Award winner will be announced from a field of three Hobey Hat Trick finalists on April 11, 2025, during the NCAA Men's Frozen Four in St. Louis, Missouri.
Criteria for the award include candidates emulating the exceptional character traits exhibited by the award's namesake, Hobey Baker. Candidates must demonstrate strength of character both on and off the ice, contribute to the integrity of his team and display outstanding skills in all phases of the game. Consideration should be given to scholastic achievement and sportsmanship.
Cole Caufield is the Badgers' most recent Hobey Baker Award winner, claiming the prize back in 2021 after leading Wisconsin to a Big Ten championship and an NCAA tournament appearance. Blake Geoffrion was UW's first winner in 2010. Then-senior goaltender Kyle McClellan was a top-10 finalist for the award in 2023-24.
Wisconsin returns to the Kohl Center for a Friday-Saturday series this weekend against No. 10 Michigan. The Badgers and Wolverines currently sit tied for fourth place in Big Ten standings, which is also the final home Big Ten quarterfinal playoff spot.
