White concludes the weekend with another top-10 record

NEW YORK – The Wisconsin men's track and field team wrapped up a weekend of impressive performances, competing at the Dr. Sander Invitational in New York City and the Fighting Illini Challenge in Urbana-Champaign.

Over at the Armory, the Badger throwers stole the show in the shot put invitational. Andrew Stone claimed victory with a throw of 62 feet, 5 inches (19.02m), edging out teammate Joseph White, who finished second with a 62-4 (19.00m) effort that replaced his previous best on the UW all-time indoor list. Jason Swarens rounded out the top five for the Badgers with a fourth-place finish mark of 61-2 ¾ (18.66m).

In the mile. Adam Spencer broke the coveted four-minute barrier, placing eighth in the Pro-Elite section with a time of 3:58.04. The Mile Invitational saw Logan Measner lead a group of Badgers, finishing eighth in 4:03.01, with teammates Bryce Stachewicz, Patrick Hilby and Andrew Casey finishing within one second of each other.

Down south, the Badgers continued their weekend of success at the Fighting Illini Challenge. In the 60 meters, Landon Gallun sprinted to third place with a time of 6.99. The mile was a highlight for Wisconsin, with Liam Newhart winning the race in 4:06.42, followed closely by Johnny Livingstone and Christian de Vaal who crossed the line at 4:06.72 and 4:07.76 respectively and sweeping the top three podium spots. Freshman Nick Gilles dominated the 3000m, taking first place in 8:20.86.

The pole vault also saw impressive performances with Augustus Counard-Ciechanowski claiming victory with a personal-best clearance of 16-4 (4.98m), a mark matched by Hunter Cook, who placed second. In the heptathlon, Quinn Lansill battled through two days of competition, highlighted by a sixth-place finish in the 60-meter hurdles with a time of 8.42.

Up Next: The Badgers will split up next weekend for meets in Louisville and Notre Dame, as UW will send athletes to the Lenny Lyles Invitational and the Meyo Invite.
