Quick Kicks: Wisconsin welcomes No. 9 UCLA and USC

West coast schools get a taste of Wisconsin

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's soccer team returns home to welcome the west coast opponents No. 9 UCLA and USC. The Badgers will play the Bruins on Thursday, Oct. 9th at 7 p.m. before facing the Trojans on Sunday, Oct. 12th at noon.
 
Here are five things to know:
 
1.Scouting the Bruins
 
Wisconsin last faced UCLA in the 2024 season, and the matched ended in a 0-0 draw. The Badgers hold a 0-6-1 record against the Bruins and have only hosted them at home once in program history.
 
The Bruins enter this match up ranked No. 9. They are currently sitting at second in the conference with 13 points and a 4-1-1 record in Big Ten play. Overall, they post an 8-3-1 and are 1-1-1 when they are on the road. UCLA most recently dropped 1-0 against Washington with the lone goal of the game coming in the 18th minute.
 
Sophomore forward Bella Winn leads the Bruins offense with four goals. She has taken 13 shots eight of which have been on goal earning a .615 shot on goal percentage. Freshman starting goalie Daphne Nakfoor has recorded 945 minutes for UCLA and collected 27 saves. She has allowed only four goals and posts a save percentage of .871.
 
2. Scouting the Trojans
 
The Badgers last faced the Trojans in the Sweet 16 round of the NCAA Tournament where they were best 3-1. Overall Wisconsin trails in the series 1-2-0.
 
USC holds a 7–3–1 overall record and sits tied for third in the Big Ten at 4–2–0 with 12 points. The Trojans are coming off a 1–0 win over Oregon, with Jaiden Anderson scoring the game-winner in the 86th minute.
 
Junior Maribel Flores has started all 11 games and leads USC's offense with six goals and three assists. Graduate student Bella Grust has saved 30 goals and allowed 14 in earning a .682 save percentage- third best in the Big Ten.
 
3. Players to Watch
 
Sophomore forward Brooke Allen continues to be a standout for the Badgers. Allen has tallied four goals this season, the most recent coming in a 3-0 victory over Minnesota. Beyond the goal she also took four shots and played for 54 minutes.  
 
Goalkeeper Drew Stover remains a key piece of the Badger defense. She earned Big Ten Goalie of the Week honors for the second time this season after collecting five saves in the shutout over the Golden Gophers. Stover leads the Big Ten with 1,170 minutes played and has posted six clean sheets this year.
 
4. Last time out
 
The Badgers continued their win streak against Minnesota with a 3-0 shut out victory. All Wisconsin goals came in the first half with Adee Boer opening scoring in the 9th minute with an assist from Jenna Baumann.
 
Brooke Allen extended the lead in the 18th minute off an assist from Madison Ishaug. Delaney Cox found the final goal for in the 37th minute with help from Taylor Gordon.
