Badger captain collects sixth career WCHA monthly honor
MADISON, Wis - The WCHA announced on Wednesday that Wisconsin women's hockey captain Caroline Harvey was named WCHA Defender of the Month for October. Harvey achieved the honor after previously being named WCHA Defender of the Week earlier in the week on Monday.
The No. 1 Wisconsin women's hockey team went 8-1-0 in the month under Harvey's leadership, currently sitting as the number one team in the conference and both the USCHO and USA Hockey national polls. The senior accumulated 13 points in nine games in October, the fifth most of any WCHA skater, and the most by a defender. Her five goals in the month and her plus/minus of +10 led all WCHA defenders in that span as well. She recorded at least one point in all but one game last month.
The New Hampshire native took home WCHA Defender of the Week twice in October. The first came on Oct. 13 after collecting two goals and two assists in a sweep over No. 4 Minnesota Duluth, with Harvey scoring the game-tying goal in game one of that series with just 20 seconds remaining. The second came just this last weekend after a one goal, two assist performance during a 7-2 win against No. 3 Minnesota. Harvey's goal that weekend was the 42nd in her career, tying Sis Paulsen for the most goals by a defender in program history.
Harvey has won WCHA Defender of the Month six times in her career now, previously winning in Sept. 2023, Dec. 2023, Oct. 2024, Nov. 2024 and Feb. 2025. She was the 2024-25 WCHA Defender of the Year, AHCA First-Team All-American and Patty Kazmaier Memorial Award Top-3 Finalist.
With 157 career points, Harvey is 10 points away from tying Ronda Curtin (Minnesota) for the most points by a defender in WCHA history.
Harvey returns to Wisconsin after the team's bye week, next playing at St. Cloud State on Nov. 14 and 15.
