Maggie Wanezek collects a personal best in the 100 back
MINNEAPOLIS — The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers women's swim and dive team took down No. 24 Minnesota 160-140 in Minneapolis on Friday evening.
HOW IT HAPPENED:
Sophomore Maggie Wanezek led the charge in the 100 back, collecting a personal best with a time of 50.30, breaking her previous time by .66 seconds. Freshman Lily Van Heel finished shortly behind in third with a time of 53.15 to break into the Wisconsin all-time performers in the event.
Freshman Brooke Corrigan led the pack in the 100 breast, with a time of 1:00.35 to tie her personal best, which broke into the Wisconsin all-time top performers list. Hazal Ozkan and Catherine Hughes rounded out the top three finishers in the event with times of 1:00.48 and 1:00.78, respectively.
Wisconsin swimmers won eight other events to pad the win against Minnesota, including the 400 free relay and 200 Medley relay. Maddie Waggoner dominated the distance, finishing with a time of 9:38.19 in the 1000 free. Abby Wanezek won the 200 free in 1:45.70, and Stella Chapman won the 200 fly in 1:57.98.
In the diving well, Julia Herring notched a fourth-place finish on the 1-meter with 253.20 points. On the 3-meter, Ryane Neal collected 276.28 points for a fourth-place finish.
UP NEXT:
The Badgers split up for meets at Texas and Ohio State, including the four-day Texas Invite on Nov. 18 and the three-day OSU Invite on Nov. 19.
