
Colyer Named Finalist for AVCA Player of the Year

AVCA shortens list to four finalists
MADISON, Wis. – Mimi Colyer of the Wisconsin volleyball team has been named one-of-four finalists for the 2025 AVCA Division I Player of the Year Award, announced by the AVCA Monday evening.
Outside hitter Mimi Colyer has been a key piece to the Badgers success this season. The First Team All-Big Ten honoree has racked up a total of 566 total kills with at least one match remaining, for an average of 5.39 kills per set, while also hitting .340. So far, Colyer has totaled 13 matches with 20 or more kills, including back-to-back 20+ kill performances in the NCAA Regionals over ranked opponents in Stanford (27) and Texas (23). She is also currently on a 19-match streak in recording double-figure kills. Lastly, against Stanford, Colyer reached a career total of 2,000 kills.
Defensively, the AVCA All-Region North Player of the Year has averaged 2.24 digs per set and has recorded nine double-doubles on the season (kills, digs). Earlier this season, the 6-foot-3 outside hitter hit the 1,000 career dig milestone as well. Colyer also adds 0.66 blocks per set and is one of the better blocking pin hitters in the country.
The announcement of the Player of the Year recipient takes place this Friday, Dec. 19 in Kansas City at the AVCA Awards Banquet.
