1. BADGERS ARE BACK: The Badgers are set to begin their 2025-26 indoor track season in earnest this weekend at the Chicago State Invite this Friday. Last season, the Badger men wrapped up their indoor season, finishing 16th at the NCAA Indoor Championships and placing third at the Big Ten Indoor Championships with 83 points.
2. RECORD-BREAKING BOSTON: The duo of Bob Liking and Adam Spencer made history in Boston last year. Spencer shattered the school record in the 3000 meters, finishing sixth with a time of 7 minutes, 40.38 seconds. The Melbourne, Australia, native set an indoor personal record by more than 40 seconds. Spencer broke Morgan McDonald's school record of 7:42.76 set during the 2019 season. Liking finished 13th in the first heat of the 5000 meters with a time of 13:22.80, shaving nearly three seconds off the previous school record of 13:25.51 set by Jackson Sharp the year prior.
3. HEADING EAST: Four runners will compete for the Badgers in Boston on Saturday, including the dynamic duo of Andrew Casey and Patrick Hilby. The 800-meter standouts return after breakout 2025 seasons that saw them anchor some of the fastest relays in program history. Casey enters fresh off an honorable mention All-America finish in the 800 meters and multiple top-10 marks indoors, while Hilby brings a PR of 1:46.83 and his own All-America honors in the DMR. Together, the pair helped rewrite the school's relay record book last year, most notably as members of the school-record sprint medley squad and the second-fastest DMR in outdoor history. Henry Risser will open his season in the 600 meters, while newcomer Cilian Gleeson makes his Badger debut in the 5000 meters.
4. MIDWEST ACTION: Multiple Badgers are set to make their debuts this Friday in Chicago. In the spring, Farraj Al Amin will line up for both the 60 meters and the 300 meters, joined by sophomore and Badger newcomer Joshua Onwunili. Tonovila Hicks adds range in the 300 and will take on the 60-meter hurdles as well. The middle-distance group features Zion Ometesa in the 600 meters, opening his indoor campaign with the event. In the distance events, Josh Truchon and Nick Gilles return for the Badgers in the 3000 meters in their season debuts.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will ring in the New Year hosting the Wisconsin Midwest Invitational at Gately Stadium in Chicago on January 10, 2026.
