
Badgers Stack Wins Across Events at Home Meet

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team closed out its regular season with a strong all-around performance on Friday, posting event wins on the track and in the field while adding multiple all-time program marks
Wisconsin opened the day with a strong showing in the 3000 meters, where Christian de Vaal won the event with a personal best of 8 minutes, 8.51 seconds, a time that moves him to No. 10 in school history. Nick Gilles followed in third, crossing the line at 8:19.05, giving the Badgers two finishers in the top three.
In the sprints, Henry Risser delivered one of the day's highlights, powering to the win in the 400 meters in 47.40.
The Badgers added two top-10 finishes in the throws. Kyle Clabough placed seventh in the shot put with a heave of 55 feet, 7 ½ inches (16.95m), while Jake Schafer delivered a strong performance of 182-7 (55.66m) to finish fifth in the discus.
Jacob Zednik and Robin Ott found success in the field with a sweep of the top two spots in the javelin. Zednik launched a winning throw of 226-9 (69.11m), while Robin Ott followed in second with a mark of 216-7 (66.01m), a performance that moved him to No. 6 in the outdoor record book.
Wisconsin dominated the pole vault, going 1-2 for the win. Nathan Nelson cleared a personal-best 17-1 ¾ (5.23m) to take the title, a mark that moves him to No. 10 all-time in program history. Augustus Counard-Ciechanowski followed in second at 15-10 (4.83m).
Jack Schmeling placed 10th in the 110-meter hurdles, clocking a time of 17.72. Schmeling returned in the field events, placing ninth in the long jump with a leap of 19-10 ¾ (6.06m) and tied for second in the high jump with a clearance of 6-3 ½ (1.91m).
Wisconsin closed the day with a stacked lineup in the 1500 meters, led by Matan Ivri who captured the win with a time of 3:38.81. The Badgers swept the top three spots, Ivri followed closely by Liam Newhart in 3:39.45 and Archie Noakes in 3:41.42. It marked a personal-best time for Newhart. Johnny Livingstone added an eighth-place finish in 3:47.53.
During the meet, the Badgers honored their five men's track and field seniors, along with Mick Byrne, who announced his retirement last month.
