Wisconsin drops three events
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 17 Wisconsin women's swim and dive team took down the Illinois Fighting Illini, 184-111, at Soderholm on Saturday afternoon.
How it happened:
Stella Chapman collected first place finishes in all three of her events. Chapman touched the wall in 54.37 and 1:58.71 in the 100 and 200 fly, respectively.
Wisconsin completed a one, two, three sweep in both the 100 and 200 free. Hailey Tierney led the pack in the 100 as Arianna Zelen and Kit Schneider finished just under a second behind. In the 200 free, Blair Stoneburg touched the wall for a first-place finish with Abby Wanezek and Tierney close behind.
In the diving well, the Badgers collected a one, two finish on both the platform and 1-meter. Ryane Neale put up a strong performance for the Badgers, sweeping all three events. Neal's 293.25 points performance sits fifth in the all-time performance list.
Wisconsin won all but three events to pad the win against the Illini, including strong performances in distance events. Maddie Waggoner collected a first place finish in the 1000 free in a time of 9:43.98 and Blair Stoneburg won the 500 free in 4:46.14.
Up Next:
The Badgers will return to action in 2026, where the swimmers will head to San Diego, California, for a tri meet against UCLA and UCSD at 11 a.m. on Jan. 3. The divers will make their way out to Florida for a dual meet against FIU on the same day.
