Starting Five: Badgers welcome Wildcats

Wisconsin hosts Senior Day affair

MADISON, Wis. — The Wisconsin women's basketball team (12-14, 3-12 B1G) returns home to host the Northwestern Wildcats (9-16, 2-12 B1G) on Sunday, Feb 23 at 2:00 p.m. (CT). The match up can be streamed on B1G+ and broadcast on 1070 AM and the iHeartRadio app.

Here are five things to know before the Badgers host the Northwestern Wildcats:

1. A GLANCE AT THE SEASON: The Badgers hold an 12-14 overall record and a 3-12 mark in conference play, having battled some of the toughest opponents in college basketball. Serah Williams continues to shine, averaging 19.2 points and 10.4 rebounds per game. Williams is one of just two players nationally with at least 19.0 points and 10.0 rebounds per game (alongside LSU's Morrow). She has scored 20+ points in three of her last five games and is only the second Badger since 2000 to average 18+ points per game, joining Jolene Anderson. Williams recorded her 200th career block at Penn State, becoming just the second Badger to achieve the milestone, alongside Michelle Lowman.

2. LAST TIME OUT: The Badgers found success over the Nittany Lions with a final score of 75-68.  Williams led the Badgers with 23 points, marking her 24th game this season in double figures and her 13th game with 20 or more points. It was also her 13th double-double of the season. Ronnie Porter also picked up a double-double with 18 points and a career-high 12 assists. Her 12-assist performance is tied for the eighth-best single-game assist total in Wisconsin's record books. Halle Douglass had her best game of the season, scoring 17 points while shooting 5-for-9 from the field, including a season-high four three-pointers.

3. SCOUTING THE WILDCATS: Northwestern enters this game with a 9-16 record overall. They have struggled in Big Ten play posting a 2-12 record. The Wildcats are coming of a 85-79 loss to the No. 21 Maryland Terrapins. Under the leadership of head coach Joe McKeown Northwestern averages 67.8 points per game and pulls down 36.5 rebounds per game.

4. HISTORY WITH NORTHWESTERN: Wisconsin last faced the Wildcats in the 2023-24 season where they were defeated 69-42 on Evanston. The Badgers trail in the all-time series 33-48.

5. LOOKING AHEAD: The Badgers will remain at the Kohl Center to host No. 3 UCLA on Wednesday, Feb. 26. Tipoff is set for 7:00 p.m. (CT), with the game airing on Peacock. Fans can also listen live on 1070 AM or the iHeartRadio app.
