
McNaughton earns semifinalist honor for Women’s Hockey Goalie of the Year

Sophomore adds to prolific resume
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin women's hockey's Ava McNaughton has been selected as a semifinalist for the Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year by the Women's Hockey Commissioners Association, emerging as one of the nine athletes in contention for the award. The winner will be announced during this year's NCAA Frozen Four in Minneapolis.
The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania native has strung together one of the more impressive campaigns throughout the 2024-25 year—guiding Wisconsin to a 27-1-2 record with four games left in the regular season.
McNaughton currently leads the nation in goals against average, turning in a 1.160 GAA. She also holds the advantage in goalie win percentage, which currently stands at 0.931.
The sophomore has tallied seven shutouts for the Badgers in the process, tied for second among competitors in the NCAA.
The Women's Hockey Goalie of the Year award marks numerous honors for McNaughton throughout the course of this season, as she has garnered three WCHA Goaltender of the Week awards, in addition to three WCHA Goaltender of the Month plaques.
Fans can catch McNaughton and No. 1 Wisconsin at home for the final time in the regular season when they host No. 3 Minnesota on Saturday, Feb. 8 and Sunday, Feb. 9 at LaBahn Arena. Saturday's match is slated to start at 2:00 p.m. CT, while Sunday's border battle will take place at 12:00 p.m. CT.
