Badgers Secure Third at Big Ten Indoor Championships
March 01, 2025 | Men's Track & Field
Second day is marked by two school records, six podium finishes, and a conference title
INDIANAPOLIS  – Thanks to Jason Swarens victory in the shot put and three runner-up showings, the Wisconsin men's track and field team took third at the 2025 Big Ten Indoor Track and Field Championship on Saturday.Â
UW totaled 83 points during the two-day meet, behind Oregon in first with 106 and USC in second with 99.5. This marks the program's third consecutive year with a top-3 finish. Swarens led the way with a dominant victory in the shot put with a personal best throw of 66 feet, 5 inches (20.24m) to claim the Big Ten Title. On the track, Jalen Williams delivered a thrilling career-best performance in the 400-meter final, clocking 45.94 seconds to finish runner-up and to break his own school record in the event.Â
The distance events continued to be a strength for the Badgers, with Adam Spencer and Bob Liking going 2-3 in the 3000 meters, crossing the line at 7:55.38 and 7:58.55 respectively. Freshman Liam Newhart built on his sub-4 mile performance in qualifiers to finish fifth in the mile with a time of 4:05.35.
