Evanston, Ill. – Wisconsin wrestling officially entered the 2024-25 post-season wrestling at the B1G Championships, hosted by Northwestern, Mar. 8-9.Â
Nicolar Rivera secured a 4th place finish in the 125 bracket, securing his spot in the NCAA Championships.
Zan Fugitt (133) and
Cody Goebel (165) also qualified for the NCAA's.Â

Nicolar Rivera led the Badgers with an impressive 4th-place podium finish, among the top wrestlers in the country. Rivera wrestled six matches in total, winning two by major decision and one by technical fall. Rivera ultimately fell in the 3rd place match against Purdue's Matt Ramos.Â
Zan Fugitt had early success but was ultimately eliminated from the tournament after dropping to Lucas Byrd (Illinois), the B1G Champion, and getting caught by Nic Bouzakis (Ohio), the third-place winner.Â
In the qualifying tournament, Fugitt was able to bounce back with one technical fall win and one major decision win. He earned 9th place in the B1G, securing his qualification for the NCAA tournament.Â
Cody Goebel was also found success in the qualifying brackets after being eliminated. He started his 165 qualifying run with two pins in the quarterfinal and semifinal rounds. The first pin against Maryland's Alex Uryniak (Fall 2:00), and the second against Indiana's Tyler Lillard (Fall 3:31). He secured his spot in 9th place with a SV-1 win over Anthony White (Rutgers).Â
Three other Badgers placed in the qualifying rounds, including
Luke Mechler - 12th (157),
Luke Condon - 10th (174), and
Gannon Rosenfeld - 11th (285).Â
