Fugitt earns All-American status
PHILADELPHIA, Pa. – Three Badgers competed at the NCAA Wrestling Championships from March 20-22 at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania.
Zan Fugitt, ranked No. 14 entering the tournament, pulled off upsets over the No. 3 and No. 6 seeds in the 125-pound weight class to advance to the semifinal round, where he fell to No. 2 Drake Ayala of Iowa. Fugitt's impressive run earned him a fourth-place finish and All-American honors.
At 125, No. 11 Nicolar Rivera went 3-2 in the tournament, advancing to the blood round. No. 31 seed Cody Goebel finished 0-2 in the 165-pound bracket.
