
Five things to know: No. 1 Badgers head to WCHA Final Faceoff Championship game

Badgers will face Minnesota on Saturday at 2 p.m.
DULUTH, Minn. – The No.1 Wisconsin women's hockey team will face Minnesota in the WCHA Final Faceoff Championship at 2 p.m. CT at the AMSOIL Arena on Saturday.
Tickets are available here. Fans in the Madison area can catch the game on Saturday on 15.4 (MeTV). The game is also available on television on the My9 Sports, Fox9+, Green Bay WBAY 2.3, Mankato KEYC 7.3, Wausau WSAW 7.2 and CW Columbus channels.
There will be a Red Carpet Arrival at 11:55 a.m. for the game as well that will feature Bucky Badger and the UW Band. Fans should greet the Badgers at Entrance E to AMSOIL Arena.
Fans can also stream the game on B1G+ or listen to Paul Braun and Mark Greenhalgh on The Game 1070.

Wisconsin at the 2025 Final Faceoff

1. LAST TIME OUT
The top-ranked Wisconsin women’s hockey team took down No. 6 Minnesota Duluth, 3-1, on Friday afternoon in the semifinals of the 2025 WCHA Final Faceoff at AMSOIL Arena.
Kelly Gorbatenko, Caroline Harvey and Emma Venusio all scored for the Badgers to propel UW to the WCHA title game on Sunday. Harvey ended the game with two points, passing Sis Paulsen for the most points in school history by a defender with 131 career points. The Badgers outshot the Bulldogs 42-23.
Harvey’s 57 points this year are tied for the sixth most in NCAA history by a defender with Minnesota’s Megan Bozek, who had 57 points in the 2012-13 season.
Casey O’Brien got her 80th point of the season, becoming the first NCAA women’s hockey player to reach 80 points since Daryl Watts did so during the 2017-18 season.

The Wisconsin women's hockey team is heading to the 2025 Kwik Trip WCHA Final Faceoff Championship and Badger fans are invited to make the trip to Duluth!
The fun continues at the WCHA Final Faceoff Pep Rally presented by UW Credit Union! Join us at the 310 Pub from 11:00 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. with appearances by Bucky Badger and the band.
There will be Wisconsin giveaway items at the event! Food and drinks will be available for purchase. Admission is free and all Badger fans are welcome!

3. FOR ALL THE MARBLES
Wisconsin will advance to its 16th WCHA Championship in school history and are 10-5 in previous title games. This marks the second-straight season that the Badgers have made the championship game. Last year, the Badgers took home the title with a decisive 6-3 victory over the Ohio State Buckeyes.
The Badgers picked up the regular season WCHA championship already and are looking to collect the regular season and tournament titles for the first time since 2021.

4. SCOUTING THE COMPETITION
The Badgers are currently on a eight-game win streak against the Golden Gophers and swept the regular-season series against Minnesota, outscoring the Gophers 23-6 in four regular-season meetings.
The Golden Gophers and Badgers met during last year's tournament in the semi-final. Wisconsin advanced with a tough-fought 4-3 OT win. Lacey Eden scored the overtime game-winning goal as Simms scored two and O'Brien scored one.

5. BADGERS IMPRESS AT WCHA AWARDS
Wisconsin women's hockey senior Casey O'Brien was named WCHA Player and Forward of the Year, junior Caroline Harvey received Defender of the Year and head coach Mark Johnson earned Coach of the Year honors, as announced at the league's award banquet on Thursday.
O'Brien earned her first WCHA yearly honors after being a finalist for the second-straight season. She also became the second-straight Badger to be named both WCHA Player and Forward of the Year after Kirsten Simm earned both honors last year. Harvey earned her second-straight Defender of the Year honor. Johnson earned his 10th WCHA Coach of the Year award.
