Wisconsin wraps up weekend racing in New Jersey

CHERRY HILL, N.J. - The Wisconsin women's lightweight rowing team capped off their Knecht Cup with victories in the lightweight varsity four and the third varsity eight events and earned medals in a few other events.

The lineup of Charlotte Wise at coxswain, Hannah Fineberg, Miya Lee, Sophie Vande Slunt and Estelle Stout finished with a time of 8:14.54, which was good enough for the silver medal.

The Badgers carried that energy from their teammates into their next race, the varsity four. Wisconsin used a lineup of Emilie Rochon at coxswain, Adeline Hinkie, Gracie Walker, Audra Chesny, Charlotte Mirzaian and finished with a time of 8:11.95.

The Badgers also medaled in the women's second varsity four where they placed third. They finished just behind second-place UMass and first-place MIT.

The first outright victory of the day came for Wisconsin in the lightweight varsity four race. This win early in the morning set the tone for the Badgers and helped shake some of the nerves off. The lineup of Emilie Rochon at coxswain, Adeline Hinkie, Payton Bradford, Anika Hanson and Charlotte Mirzaian. They finished over four seconds ahead of the second-place Boston University squad.

The last victory of the day for the Badgers came in the third varsity eight race. Wisconsin dominated for the entire race, finishing nearly 20 seconds in front of second place.

STRAIGHT FROM THE SHORE:
Coach Hadzo "Hodge" Habibovic

"Today was another good step in our season. We were able to showcase our depth by winning the Lightweight Varsity Four and Third Varsity Eight events as well as medal in a few others. I think our team had really invaluable race experience across the board and the varsity eight closed the gap on Georgetown compared to last weekend. It was another data point in our season and another step in the right direction for our program. I'm excited to lineup against Stanford next weekend and see where we stack up against them."
