MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin women's basketball team has added 6-foot-3 forward Gift Uchenna, a transfer from Southern Illinois, head coach Robin Pingeton announced Wednesday.
As a junior, Uchenna started all 30 games for the Salukis, averaging 14.5 points per game while shooting 43.3% from the field. She was dominant on the boards, ranking second in the nation with 12.8 rebounds per game. Her 21 double-doubles led the Missouri Valley Conference, and her 383 total rebounds set a new single-season record at Southern Illinois.
Before her time at SIU, Uchenna played for Shih Hsin University in Taipei, where she earned MVP honors and led her team to two championships.
"I am beyond grateful and blessed to be part of this program," said Uchenna. "I am looking forward to achieving amazing things together!"
A native of Ebonyi State, Nigeria, Uchenna attended Kochi Chuo High School in Japan.
