16 Badgers impress on women's hockey world stage

Ten current and former Badgers take gold, six take silver at IIHF Women’s World Championship
MADISON, Wis. – Sixteen current and former members of the Wisconsin women's hockey team medaled at the IIHF 2025 International Ice Hockey Federation Women's World Championship in České BudÄ›jovice, Czechia.
Current Badgers Lacey Eden, Laila Edwards, Caroline Harvey, Ava McNaughton and Kirsten Simms earned goals with Team USA alongside UW legends Jesse Compher, Britta Curl-Salemme, Hilary Knight and Anna Wilgren. Goaltenders Kristen Campbell and Ann-Renée Desbiens and forwards Emily Clark, Sarah Nurse, Blayre Turnbull and Daryl Watts earned silver with Team Canada.
Harvey earned the Directorate Award for Best Defender and recorded a clutch goal in the championship game with Edwards picking up an assist on the third goal of Team USA's 4-3 overtime win. Knight ranked third overall in the tournament with nine points on two goals and seven assists and was named a top-three player of the tournament for the Red, White and Blue.
Future Badger Adéla Šapovalivová was named one of the top-three players of the tournament for Team Czechia. Former UW captain Carla MacCleod led the Czech squad as head coach.
Former Badger blueliner and equipment manager Sis Paulsen joined Team USA's bench as equipment manager.Â
