Lindeman shatters school record in hammer throw
MADISON, Wis. - The Wisconsin women's track and field program secured 12 first-place finishes at the annual Badger Challenge on Friday, led by the likes of Chloe Lindeman in the hammer throw.
Lindeman emerged as the standout from the day's action, as the native of Fulton, Illinois, improved her own school record in the hammer throw—tallying a mark of 222 feet, one inch (67.70 meters). The throw inserted Lindeman into the top-10 in the nation as the regular season wraps up in the next week.
Emma Kelley won the 800 meters with a UW PR of 2:03.17 that ranks fifth in school history. That mark is also good for sixth in the Big Ten.
In the pole vault, Julia Moore capped off her regular season with a first-place finish—landing at No. 3 all-time in UW's Outdoor Track history with a leap of 13-8 ½ (4.18m), which throws her into the top-15 of the Big Ten this year.
Zonica Lindeque advanced to No. 6 all-time in school history in the shot put, continuing her strong season of personal bests in the event. Lindeque turned in a throw of 55-7 (16.94m) to rise to the top in Friday's action.
Sydney Robinson won a pair of events on the track, winning the 100 meters in 11.93 and the 200 meters in 24.85.
Elissa Perkins followed suit in her duo of events, securing a win in both the triple jump and the long jump. Perkins notched a personal best in the long jump—leaping 19-8 ¾ (6.01m) for a career best.
In the 3000 meters steeplechase, Maggie Munson finished with the top time of her career at 10:35.88—cruising to a victory by over 20 seconds.
Karina Janik won the 400 hurdles in 1:03.19.
Taylor Kesner wrapped up the throws section of the Badger Challenge by taking first place in the discus—winning with a heave of 168-4 (51.30m).
To complete the day, Kylie Finger and Mya Bunke each earned personal bests in the 1500 meters, notching gold and silver, respectively. Finger turned in a time of 4:18.80, while Bunke covered the distance in 4:19.64.
Up Next: The Badgers will head south for the Augustana Penultimate Qualifier held by Augustana College in Rock Island, Illinois on May 9.
