Camden, N.J. – The Badgers kicked off day one of the 2025 Intercollegiate Rowing Association (IRA) National Championships on the Cooper River on Friday.
The No.12 Wisconsin men's rowing team opened with a time of 5:40.53 for the varsity eight boat to finish fourth in the Heat 4 race. Fourth-ranked Dartmouth crossed the 2000-meter finish line first in 5:32.56 with Princeton second in 5:34.11 and Navy third in 5:39.51.
WIth the top three boats advancing to the AB Semfinal, UW will next race in Saturday's CD Semifinal.
The Badger's second varsity eight also placed fourth in its heat and will continue on to the CD Semifinal on Saturday. Wisconsin's second varsity eight finished with a time of 5:49.38.
UW's third varsity eight finished fourth in their heat on Friday with a time of 5:54.76, moving on to the C Final on Sunday.
Finally, Wisconsin's varsity four placed 22nd in the event's time trial with a time of 6:20.126. Washington took first at 5:59.438. That put the Badgers in Friday afternoon's DE Semifinal, where they took third. They will race in Saturday's Fourth Final for places 19-24.
UP NEXT: The Badgers continue Saturday at the 2025 IRA National Championships with semifinal and final action.
Due to expected weather, the race schedule on Saturday is pushed back four hours from the previously scheduled time.
