
Hensler, Osburn invited to World Junior Summer Showcase

Badger defensemen look to make good impressions for 2025 World Junior Team
MADISON, Wis. – A pair of Wisconsin men's hockey defensemen – rising sophomore Logan Hensler and incoming freshmen Luke Osburn – are invitees to the 2025 World Junior Summer Showcase that will take place July 25-August 2 at Ridder Arena in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
The camp will help members of USA Hockey make evaluations for the team that will compete at the 2026 International Ice Hockey Federation World Junior Championship, which takes place from Dec. 26, 2025, through Jan. 5, 2026, in Saint Paul, Minnesota, and Minneapolis. 
Hensler, who won gold with Team USA at last year's world junior championship, was recently chosen at No. 23 overall by the Ottawa Senators in the first round of the 2025 NHL Draft.
The Woodbury, Minnesota, native posted two goals and 12 points in 32 games played during his freshman season for UW. His 12 points ranked second among Badger freshmen and tied him for second among Wisconsin blue liners. The defenseman was named to the All-Big Ten Freshman Team for his efforts throughout the 2024-25 campaign. 
A product of the U.S. National Team Development Program (NTDP), skating for the NTDP from 2022-24, the defenseman also helped Team USA to a silver medal at the 2024 IIHF Under-18 Men's World Championship. 
Osburn, an incoming defenseman from the United States Hockey League's (USHL) Youngstown Phantoms, is the reigning USHL Defenseman of the Year, tallying 10 goals and 31 assists in 55 games played to lead all defenseman on the team with 41 points. The Plymouth, Michigan, native's 41 points ranked fourth among all USHL defensemen and his 0.75 points per game led all blueliners who played at least two games. 
A fourth-round draft pick of the Buffalo Sabres at 108th overall at the 2024 NHL Draft, Osburn previously helped Team USA to a gold medal at the 2024 World Junior A Challenge in Camrose, Alberta. At the World Junior A Challenge, Osburn tied for first among all players in the tournament with seven assists and ranked third with nine points.  
In addition to U.S. players, skaters from Canada, Finland and Sweden will also take part in the Showcase, which will include 11 games.
