MADISON, Wis. -Â The Wisconsin women's soccer team fell 2-1 to Purdue in its Big Ten opener on Thursday night at McClimon.
How it Happened
First Half
The Badgers came out aggressive and earned a penalty kick in just the 3
rd minute, but couldn't convert.
Purdue capitalized shortly after, striking in the 7th minute to take the early lead.
Wisconsin controlled the half, out-shooting the Boilermakers (11-4) and holding a 6-0 advantage in corners, but went into the break trailing 1-0.
Second Half
Purdue added on in the 75
th minute but the Badgers weren't out of it yet. In the 81
st minute
Erin Connolly completed a pass from
Ella Ottey with a header into the bottom left of the net.

Wisconsin was unable to complete the comeback despite leading in shots (20-7), shots on goal (8-3) and corners (14-0).
