UW travels to Fiserv Forum for road match
MADISON, Wis. - The No. 7 Wisconsin women's volleyball team hits the road once again, this time staying in the Badger State to take on Marquette, hosted at the Fiserv Forum in Milwaukee. The match is set to start at 8:00 p.m. CT and will be televised on Big Ten Network.
Fans looking to purchase tickets for the match can do so with the link, HERE. Wisconsin volleyball is hosting a tailgate for fans before the match as well, taking place from 5:30-7:30 p.m. at the New Fashioned in the Deer District.
The Badgers (5-1) will battle against the Golden Eagles (5-2) for the 25th time in program history, as UW leads the series 23-1. Last year, Wisconsin enjoyed a strong offensive showing en route to a four-set victory, as they hosted Marquette at the Kohl Center in front of 15,084 fans. Outside hitter Sarah Franklin set a new program record for most kills in a single match at 33 to power the Badgers past the Golden Eagles.
Wisconsin is fresh off of their second straight undefeated week, as they swept a pair of opponents in Milwaukee and No. 21 Georgia Tech. The Badgers got their first road win of the season against the Yellow Jackets this past Friday, putting together a historic offensive showing to earn a 3-0 victory.
On the evening, the Badgers hit .488 (51 - 10 - 84) as a team, tied for their third-highest percentage in a three-set match in program history. It marked the highest all-time swinging percentage against a ranked opponent, too.
Outside hitter Mimi Colyer racked up 19 kills against Georgia Tech, tallying double-digit kills for the sixth consecutive game. She ranks at No. 2 in the NCAA in kills per set, and leads the Big Ten at 5.21. Setter Charlie Fuerbringer ranks fifth in the NCAA in assists per set as well, entering with 11.28 per game, good for first in the Big Ten.
From the right side, outside hitter Grace Egan continued to find her rhythm in the Badgers' offense, racking up 14 kills and six digs against Georgia Tech after notching a career-high in service aces with five against Milwaukee. Middle blocker Alicia Andrew has been reliable on the front line, too—entering Wednesday with an efficient hitting percentage of .538 with 38 kills and only three errors in six matches.
After facing the Golden Eagles, UW will return home to host the Kohl Center Classic, as they welcome No. 15 Florida (5-2) on Sunday, Sept. 21. The match will be televised on Big Ten Network, with first serve set to get underway at Noon CT.
