
McNaughton named to HCA Goaltender of the Year Watchlist

Badger goalie currently leads nation with 18 wins
MADISON, Wis -- Wisconsin women's hockey goaltender Ava McNaughton was included on the Hockey Commissioners Association 2025-26 Goaltender of the Year watch list, announced by the association on Wednesday.
To qualify for the watchlist, NCAA Division I goalies must have a goals against average of 2.20 or lower, or a saver percentage of .923 or higher.
The junior is the reigning recipient of the HCA Goaltender of the Year award, having won the national honor last season after securing a program record 36 wins with the Badgers. McNaughton is following up with a season just as impressive, with her 18 wins thus far leading the country.Â
The goalie has been on a heater as of late, compiling a 3-0-1 record in her last four games against No. 2 Ohio State and No. 8 Minnesota Duluth. In that span, she has a .98 GAA, a .962 save percentage, and has made 101 saves. She earned WCHA Goaltender of the Week after both of those performances.
The Seven Fields, Pennsylvania native will also represent the United States at the 2026 Milan-Cortina Winter Olympics in February. She is the second-youngest player on Team USA, and one of three goaltenders.
McNaughton and the rest of the Badgers faceoff at St. Thomas this week on both Friday and Saturday, with each game beginning at 2 p.m. CT.Â
