Badgers secure 28–12 conference win at the Field House
MADISON, Wis. - Wisconsin wrestling earned another Big Ten victory Friday night at the UW Field House, taking down Northwestern, 28–12.
Despite Northwestern picking up early decision victories, Wisconsin built its lead with bonus points, recording two falls, a technical fall, and multiple major decisions.
Wyatt Ingham set the tone early, needing less than two minutes to secure a pin and give the Badgers an early boost. Braxton Amos followed with a major decision at heavyweight, adding to Wisconsin's lead.
After trailing 3–1 heading into the second period, Zan Fugitt flipped the momentum quickly, pinning Sean Spidle to pick up six points for the Badgers.
Joseph Zargo added another win for Wisconsin in a back-and-forth bout, earning a decision over August Hibler to keep the Badgers in control of the dual.
Luke Mechler and Cody Goebel added the final points of the night, with Mechler recording a major decision and Goebel delivering a technical fall to seal the team victory.
Wisconsin's 28-12 win set a new high for the team's largest Big Ten margin, eclipsing last week's 28-13 victory over Maryland
