Badgers wrap up Indiana Invitational with wins in 300, 800 meters

Williams, Casey lead Wisconsin on final day in Indianapolis
BLOOMINGTON, Ind. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team closed out the Indiana Invitational on Saturday with a pair of event victories and multiple top-five finishes at the Harry Gladstein Fieldhouse.
Jalen Williams highlighted the day for the Badgers, winning the 300 meters in a personal-best time of 33.68 seconds. Joshua Onwunili followed with a seventh-place finish in 35.27, while Micah Walker placed 11th at 35.42.
Andrew Casey claimed the title in the 800 meters, crossing the line first in 1:15.22 to give Wisconsin its second event win of the day. The performance currently ranks 19th nationally.
In the 3000 meters, Nick Gilles earned a podium finish by placing third in 8:14.30, with Bryce Stachewicz close behind in fifth at 8:16.00.
Wisconsin posted a strong showing in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of Williams, Patrick Hilby, Zion Omotesa and Henry Risser finished third in 3:11.57. The time now ranks 18th in the NCAA and 16th among Division I teams.
Risser placed fifth in the 400 meters, crossing the finish line at 48.45. Lorenz Forsmann took ninth in 49.47 and Farraj Al Amin finished 10th with a time of 49.97. In the high jump, Jack Schmeling recorded a personal-best clearance of 6 feet, 2 ⅔ inches (1.90 meters) to place 10th.
Up Next: The Badgers split up for meets in Philadelphia and Champaign, Illinois. The Peen Elite will take place Jan. 22-23, while the Fighting Illini Challenge and Combined Events run Jan. 22-24.
