Harvey and McNaughton receive national recognitions
MADISON, Wis - Wisconsin women hockey's Caroline Harvey and Ava McNaughton both achieved HCA monthly awards for December, the organization announced on Thursday. The awards come after the pair had already secured WCHA monthly honors
Caroline Harvey earned her third straight HCA monthly honor. She recorded the game-winning goal in the Badgers' 2-1 series opener against No. 2 Ohio State and then put up a one-goal, two-assist performance in game two. Harvey is second in the NCAA this season in points (41) and first in assists (30).
Harvey was named to Team USA's Olympic Roster last week, set on competing in her second Olympics after collecting a silver medal at the 2022 Olympics in Beijing.
Ava McNaughton was awarded the HCA Co-Goaltender of the Month from her performance against No. 2 Ohio State. McNaughton made 60 saves in the series, with 25 saves in game one and 35 in game two - all while only allowing one goal in each contest. McNaughton's 35 saves in game two are the second-most in her career, and the most she's ever saved while only allowing one goal or less.
This is McNaughton's first HCA Monthly honor this season, and only the second of her career despite winning HCA Goaltender of the Year during the 2024-25 season.
McNaughton also earned a spot with Team USA, one of three goalies on the team. As a junior, McNaughton is the second-youngest player on the Team USA roster.
Before the Badger pair play in Italy on February 5, they will first compete for UW in the first three series in January. The first of which comes against Minnesota Duluth this Friday, January 9 at 3:02 p.m. CT.
