UW opens indoor championship season this weekend in Indy
MADISON, Wis - The Wisconsin women's track and field team will head to Indianapolis for the Indoor Track Big Ten Championships this weekend. The activity is set to commence at 10:20 a.m. CT on Thursday, Feb. 26 and finish the evening of Saturday, Feb.28.Â

1. NATTY CHAMP RETURNS: The 2025 NCAA Indoor weight throw champion Taylor Kesner looks to add another trophy to her collection this weekend. Kesner won the weight throw at NCAA Championships, with a throw of 77-1 ¼ (23.50m), ranking her No.2 of all time in the UW indoor record book. Last year, senior Chloe Lindman finished in third at the Big Ten Championships, throwing 73-3 ¼ (22.33m) and sixth at the NCAA Championships. Kesner has had a successful indoor season this year, winning three of five weight throw competitions she competed in.Â
2. THROWING BIG: Nora Skoraczewski and Zonica Lindeque have helped lead the way for Wisconsin throwers both earning UW top-ten marks last weekend at the Panther Tune-Up in Milwaukee. Nora Skoraczewski won the weight throw in Milwaukee, with a heave of 66-6 ¼ (20.25m), moving her to No. 9 in the Wisconsin record book. The sophomore has earned podium finishes in four of six meets she has competed in. Zonica Lindeque won the shot put at the Panther Tune-Up with a toss of 54-11 ¼ (16.74m), moving her from No. 8 to No. 5 on the UW top-10 list. In three of her four meets she competed in for shot put, she won. Skoraczewski and Lindeque will look to build on this success in Indianapolis this weekend.Â
3, FABULOUS FRESHMAN:Â Freshman Luciana Aizpurua has had a hot season so far, bringing her into the Badger record book two different times. At her most recent race, The Jarvis Scott Invite, Aizpurua ran her personal best in the 60 meters, sprinting the distance in 7.48, moving her to No. 5 in the indoor record book. Aizpurua is set to compete in the 60 meters and 200 meters this weekend.Â
4. GOING THE DISTANCE: Five distance runners will make the trip down to Indianapolis, including Kylie Finger, Bella Jacobsen, Zaira Malloy-Salgado, Sara Mlodik and Leané Willemse. Finger and Willemse earned UW top-ten marks at their last meet in the 5000 meters, the David Hemery Valentine Invitational, running their personal bests. Finger finished first in her heat with a time of 15:50.00, clocking the No.6 time in school history. Following Finger, Willemse took third in her heat, setting a six-second PR with a time of 15:59.41. This mark ranks No.8 in school history. Mlodik has also had a successful season, winning the 5000 meters at the Badger Windy City Invite, running her personal best with a time of 16:30.73 and finishing as the runner-up in the 3000 meters at the Penn Elite, covering the track in 9:34.98. At the Windy City Invite, Jacobsen won the mile, running her personal best, 4:54.26. Capping off the distance runners, Malloy-Salgado finished in fifth in the 3000 meters at the Blue Demon Alumni Classic, running the 3k in 9:42.49. The distance runners will look to kick it up a notch in Indianapolis this weekend.Â
5. UP NEXT: Wisconsin will wrap up the indoor season at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Track and Field Championships, March 13-14 in Fayetteville, Arkansas.Â
