Badgers Finish Fifth at Big Ten Indoor Championships

Williams, Risser break school records as Wisconsin tallies 47 points in Indianapolis
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team closed out competition at the 2026 Big Ten Indoor Championships with a fifth-place team finish, scoring 47 points inside the Indiana State Fairgrounds. Oregon claimed the team title with 114 points, followed by Penn State with 96 points and Iowa with 61 points.
Wisconsin was powered by a pair of school records on the final day of competition. Jalen Williams clocked 45.77 in the 400 meters to finish fourth and set a new program standard, while Henry Risser placed third in the 600 meters in a record-breaking 1:16.31.
On the distance side, Matan Ivri delivered a runner-up finish in the 3000 meters, crossing the line in 8:00.74 to earn eight team points. Patrick Hilby added a fourth-place finish in the 800 meters with a time of 1:47.67 and Liam Newhart scored in the mile with an eighth-place time of 4:15.66.
The Badgers closed the meet with a strong performance in the 4x400-meter relay, as the quartet of Walker, Williams, Casey and Omotesa placed fourth with a time of 3:07.46, improving their No. 2 mark in school history.
Over in the field events, Kyle Clabough and Nicholas Godbehere competed in the shot put, placing 11th and 14th with throws of 58-5 ¾ (17.82m) and 57-8 ¼ (17.58m), respectively.
Up Next: Select Badgers will travel to Arkansas for the NCAA Championships starting Friday, March 13. Athletes who rank top-16 in Division I in their event quality for NCAAs, while relays require a top-12 time.
