Five things to know: Badgers to host 5th Annual Windy City Invite in Chicago

MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team hosts the 5th Annual Badgers Windy City Invite in Chicago this weekend. The Badgers will send select sprinters, hurdlers, distance runners and throwers to compete against athletes from Indiana, Louisville, Tennessee, Tulane and more. Events begin at 1:00 p.m. on Friday and 11:00 a.m. on Saturday.

1. LOOKING BACK: The Badgers turned in several standout performances at last year's meet. Andrew Casey opened the competition with a personal-best effort in the 600 meters, finishing second in 1:18.15, a top-10 time in program history. Illinois native Patrick Hilby impressed in the 800 meter invite, placing third with a time of 1:48.47. In the throws, Joseph White delivered a personal-best mark of 72 feet, 6 ½ inches (22.11 meters) in the weight throw, finishing second and improving his own fourth-best throw in Wisconsin history.
2. LAST TIME OUT: Wisconsin enters the weekend coming off a productive showing at Notre Dame's Loftus Sports Center, highlighted by two top-four finishes in the shot put. Junior Kyle Clabough led the way with a third-place finish and a season-best throw of 58 feet, 11 ¼ inches (17.96 meters). Nicholas Godbehere followed closely behind in fourth place with a mark of 58-3 ¼ (17.76 meters), giving the Badgers two athletes among the event's top four.
3. HISTORIC HILBY: Sophomore Patrick Hilby was named Big Ten Track Athlete of the Week last week following a historic performance at the Penn Elite. Hilby won the 800 meters in 1:47.36, breaking the meet record and recording the second-fastest indoor time in Wisconsin history. The honor marked the first Big Ten weekly award of his career. He contributed to a fourth-place finish in the 4x400 relay, helping the Badgers post a time of 3:10.83.
4. B1G MOVES: Several Wisconsin athletes currently rank among the Big Ten's best this season. Jalen Williams sit this in the conference in the 400 meters at 46.56, while Henry Risser ranks ninth in the 600 meters at 1:17.09. Hilby also holds a top-10 conference mark in the 800 meters while Archie Noakes ranks sixth in the 3000 meters with a time of 7:51.25. Tonovila Hicks stands 10th in the 60-meter hurdles and Darius Jones II ranks sixth in the heptathlon with 5703 points. Wisconsin's distance medley relay leads the Big Ten, while the 4x400 relay team ranks sixth overall.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers will split up next weekend, competing at the Jarvis Scott Invite in Lubbock, Texas, the Blue Demon Alumni Classic in Chicago and the David Hemery Valentine Invite in Boston on February 13-14.
