Maggie Wanezek set a pool record in the 200 back
MADISON, Wis. — The No. 15 Wisconsin Badgers swim and dive teams closed out regular season competition at the Badger Invitational on Saturday, sweeping all events in the pool.
How it happened:
Maggie Wanezek highlighted the morning preliminary session, setting a pool record in the 200 back. The sophomore blasted a 1:49.47 to best the previous time by under a second.
In the evening session, Izzy Enz kicked off the individual events with a strong showing in the 1650 free. The junior touched the wall in 16.29.63, beating out her lifetime best by a fraction of a second.
Abby Wanezek, Hailey Tierney and Blair Stoneburg finished all within one second of each other in the 100 free to seal a one, two, three finish. Wanezek led the way with a time of 48.67 as Stoneburg closed out with 49.38.
Wisconsin found success in the relay events, as the Wisconsin B crew of Kit Schneider, Hazal Ozkan, Lucie Delmas and Blair Stoneburg opened the night with a first-place 3:37.72 finish in the 400 medley. The Wisconsin A crew of Tierney, the Wanezek sisters and Stoneburg sealed a first place finish in the 200 free relay in 1:29.68.
