Select student-athletes head south to launch the 2026 outdoor campaign
MADISON, Wis. – The Wisconsin men's track and field team will open its outdoor campaign this weekend in Florida, competing at the USF Alumni Invite on Friday and Saturday. Competition begins at 9:00 a.m. CT on both Friday and Saturday. Fans can follow along on X and Instagram @BadgerTrackXC. Live stats can be found at Half-Mile Timing.
1. THAT'S A WRAP: Last week, Wisconsin wrapped up a strong indoor season at the 2026 NCAA Indoor Championships. Taylor Kesner capped her indoor campaign with a season-best 73 feet, 7 ½ inches (22.44m), in the weight throw, earning first-team All-America honors for the second straight year. The Badgers' DMR was unable to finish after late-race interference caused a dropped baton on the final lap.
2. BACK ON THE TRACK: Two Badger multis will make their first outdoor appearance of the year in Tampa. Freshman Jack Schemling and newcomer Robin Ott are set to open their seasons this weekend. In addition, a quartet of Badger freshmen will compete in the springs on the track.
3. ON THE FIELD: Wisconsin will send select student-athletes to Tampa as several Badgers begin their outdoor campaigns. Kyle Clabough is slated to compete in shot put. In the pole vault, Augustus Counard-Ciechanoski and Nathan Nelson will open their spring schedules with their first attempts of the outdoor season. Jack Schaefer will make his debut in the discus while Jacob Zednik returns to the field in the javelin.
4. WELCOME HOME: The Badgers will host the Badger Invite on Friday, May 1 at the McClimon Track and Field complex, marking the theme's only home meet of the season.
5. UP NEXT: The Badgers head west for the Rob and Sharlene Allice Trojan Invite in Los Angeles, California, hosted by the University of Southern California. The meet will be on March 27 and 28.
