Wisconsin earns win in 100 meters, podium finishes in middle distance and field events
LOS ANGELES – The Wisconsin men's track and field team turned in an impressive showing at the USC Trojan Invite, wrapping up the weekend with a victory in the sprints and multiple top-three finishes across the track and field.
Joshua Onwunili led the way for the Badgers, capturing the 100 meters title in a time of 10.41. The Accra, Ghana native doubled back to add an eighth-place finish in the 200 meters, crossing the line in 21.57. In the 400 meters, Farraj Al Amin placed eighth with a time of 48.33.
In the middle-distance events, Zion Omotesa secured a runner-up finish in the 800 meters, clocking 1:53.70 to take second.
The Badgers saw a pair of finishes in the 110-meter hurdles, with Robin Ott placing sixth in 15.73 and Jack Schmeling finishing seventh in 16.39.
In the field events, Jacob Zednik recorded a third-place finish in the javelin with a throw of 211 feet, 11 inches (64.61m), while Kyle Clabough also placed third in the shot put with a mark of 54-10 ¾ (16.73m).
Up Next: The Badgers split up for two meets next weekend, traveling to the Stanford Invitational in Stanford, California, and the Triton Invitational in La Jolla, California, from April 3-4.
